It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re kicking off the season with our first-ever Holiday Open House, a celebration of the holiday season and all the joy it brings. This year, we’re thrilled to announce the preview opening of our brand new outdoor retail space, The Lot Next Door, which will be full of fresh, green Frasier Fir Christmas trees for sale! Hot cocoa and cider will be available to keep you warm, or roast a marshmallow around the fire pit after you’ve picked out your tree. Inside the Shop, we’ll be decorated to the max and full of new, unique items to get your holiday shopping started. The terrarium bar will be transformed and we’ll have mini Norfolk Pine Trees and small décor to create a mini holiday tree for those small spaces and office desks. Create your own 8x10 botanical monogram work of art with a selection of pressed and preserved botanical elements including leaves, flowers, fronds, and more. All supplies and tools provided to create a single, unframed piece, with your choice of either a white or black background. Due to the delicate nature of the material we’ll be working with, no food or drink will be available or allowed during this workshop.

Spooky season is upon us, and we’re celebrating by creating 8"-inch round bog terrariums that include two carnivorous plants. Learn how to care for your new picky eaters and maintain their particular environments, as their care differs from traditional tropical terrariums. A unique and living decoration that gets bigger and better with each Halloween season.

Bring the look and feel of a quiet and sheltered forest nook into your home with an eye-catching and low-maintenance preserved moss and air plant wall art piece. The vibrant colors and textures of the preserved moss make a perfect backdrop for these epiphytic wonder plants. Each participant will receive a small wooden board to be decorated with preserved moss, provided in an array of colors, and two tillandsia plants. This touch-of-the-wild can best be admired in a humid space like a bathroom or perhaps as a gift to a friend entering the wonderful world of plants.

This is a neighborhood wide event in the Near Northwest! Botany will join in on the fun with a plant swap and drop in re pots. This will be your last chance to repot with Botany for the season, so make a plan to bring your plants down for some fresh soil! If you have any pest free plants you want to donate or swap, we will have a table set up for plant swapping too. The area will be alive with live music, food and lots of fun, come down and see us!

New to the plant world? Learn the basics of caring for indoor house plants, including proper watering, light management and general troubleshooting of problems that may occur. Ask our Plant Care Specialist any questions you may have to help empower you on your plant parenthood journey.

Squeeze some fun out of the final days of summer and join The Botany Shop and Craft One Half for another deliciously botanical event. The Craft One Half team will be laying out a spread of brunch and lunch favorites with a twist, and no brunch is complete without a Mimosa Bar. Botany will bring bunches of gorgeous, fresh, local, and seasonal flowers to help you create a one-of-a-kind bouquet created by you. Join us as we celebrate and delight in the bounty of summer as we ease into Fall.

A centuries old Japanese tradition, Kokedama is an exciting and creative way of repotting your plant without the pot! Using moss, we will transform our houseplants into beautiful works of living art. Ticket covers all materials needed for this workshop, including the plant. Participants will get their choice from a pre selected collection of plants.

Every student needs some GREEN in their lives! Join us on Plant Adoption Day @ The Botany Shop to take home a free plant to adorn your space this semester. A Roaster Called Revenant will be on site for your coffee cravings, and there are other businesses on the block, plus a farmer’s market! Come explore the Near Northwest Neighborhood!

Bring this season’s left-over seeds to the Shop and let’s swap! This is a free event, you can find something new to grow while sharing your extras with others. We’ll also go over how to save some common seeds, natives and vegetables. Please label any seeds you want to share with the name and harvest date as a courtesy to other gardeners.

We’re open extended hours this evening from 5-8pm, and its Back to School Night! All educators can take 10% off all non-consignment items with their current faculty ID.

We’re popping up at Notre Dame for welcome week! If you know any incoming students who need to green up their dorm rooms, we’ll be there with easy to care for plants and accessories perfect for your study desk or professor’s office. Get some plant friends to help you through the cold of winter!

This class is a blend of plant propagation and plant styling. We'll discuss plant vs. vessel selection, the anatomy of the plant so you know where to cut, how a plant grows over time, and how to style plant cuttings so they become curated decor for your space. Attendees will be able to take home plant cuttings and a vessel. We’ll end with a Q&A to talk about any general plant care concerns or questions.
