Holiday Open House

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re kicking off the season with our first-ever Holiday Open House, a celebration of the holiday season and all the joy it brings. This year, we’re thrilled to announce the preview opening of our brand new outdoor retail space, The Lot Next Door, which will be full of fresh, green Frasier Fir Christmas trees for sale! Hot cocoa and cider will be available to keep you warm, or roast a marshmallow around the fire pit after you’ve picked out your tree. Inside the Shop, we’ll be decorated to the max and full of new, unique items to get your holiday shopping started. The terrarium bar will be transformed and we’ll have mini Norfolk Pine Trees and small décor to create a mini holiday tree for those small spaces and office desks. Get your gifts and tree all in one stop, at The Botany Shop!

Create your own 8x10 botanical monogram work of art with a selection of pressed and preserved botanical elements including leaves, flowers, fronds, and more. Moss Wall Art Workshop

Bring the look and feel of a quiet and sheltered forest nook into your home with an eye-catching and low-maintenance preserved moss and air plant wall art piece. The vibrant colors and textures of the preserved moss make a perfect backdrop for these epiphytic wonder plants. Each participant will receive a small wooden board to be decorated with preserved moss, provided in an array of colors, and two tillandsia plants. This touch-of-the-wild can best be admired in a humid space like a bathroom or perhaps as a gift to a friend entering the wonderful world of plants.

This is a neighborhood wide event in the Near Northwest! Botany will join in on the fun with a plant swap and drop in re pots. This will be your last chance to repot with Botany for the season, so make a plan to bring your plants down for some fresh soil! If you have any pest free plants you want to donate or swap, we will have a table set up for plant swapping too. The area will be alive with live music, food and lots of fun, come down and see us!

“Fall Mall is an outdoor event open to all undergraduate students, where they can explore offerings from local vendors from the South Bend and Notre Dame area. Students can use Fall Mall as an opportunity to find dorm room decorations, buy local products, grab refreshments, and become more familiar with the surrounding community. Stop by Fieldhouse Mall on Sunday, August 25th for the perfect introduction to life in South Bend!”

Propagation 101

This class is a blend of plant propagation and plant styling. We'll discuss plant vs. vessel selection, the anatomy of the plant so you know where to cut, how a plant grows over time, and how to style plant cuttings so they become curated decor for your space. Attendees will be able to take home plant cuttings and a vessel. We’ll end with a Q&A to talk about any general plant care concerns or questions.

You remember the Scholastic Book Fairs right?  You know the one, with the Lamborghini posters, slap bracelets and locked diaries.  Well guess what?  We are having a Grown Up Book Fair right here with books, beer & tons of fun!  We are collaborating with Brain Lair Books, Botany Shop, Wicked Pop Candles and the Portage Collective to bring you the joy of nostalgia and now you can spend your money however you like, with a beer even!  

Bring a used book  and receive your very own personalized pencil! 

All books will be donated to St. Margaret’s House & the Homeless Shelter.  Show us your current library card and get a $5 Crooked Ewe coin!
