All of these treasures, and more, help to make already beautiful tropical terrariums even more unique and special. This is your chance to bring your precise keepsakes to Botany's Found Treasures Tropical Terrarium Workshop. Each participant is welcome to bring their own glass vessel, please nothing bigger than 150g or 1gal sized containers, or use the vessel provided by Botany. Participants are also encouraged to bring in their special keepsakes to decorate their terrariums, please nothing bigger than your fist, or alive. Sand, moss, rocks and stones are included.

It’s finally time for fresh veggies! We’re creating salad bowl planters out of lettuce, spinach, herbs and micro dwarf tomatoes. Participants will choose 4 short growing plants and plant them in a 14” hanging coco coir basket. We will also have supplies to make DIY plant markers for each plant. In this workshop, we’ll cover everything you need to know, starting with an exploration of the cultural, ecological, and community significance of embracing an alternative lawn, including a brief history of lawns in America. We’ll explore popular movements like No Mow May and Homegrown National Park, and demystify the nuance of local zoning codes and ordinances when it comes to alternative lawns.  We’ll also share a variety of alternative lawn options, from clover and low-mow fescue to tapestry lawns, edible landscaping, and designed native plantings. We’ll guide you through the basics including how to select the best location and size of your new planting, how to budget, and how to prepare a site for new plants.  This workshop will be interactive, and you’ll leave with a concrete plan of action tailored to you, for whenever you’re ready to take the next step.  This beginner-friendly workshop is a prerequisite for both Lawn Conversion 102 and 103.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re kicking off the season with our first-ever Holiday Open House, a celebration of the holiday season and all the joy it brings. This year, we’re thrilled to announce the preview opening of our brand new outdoor retail space, The Lot Next Door, which will be full of fresh, green Frasier Fir Christmas trees for sale! Hot cocoa and cider will be available to keep you warm, or roast a marshmallow around the fire pit after you’ve picked out your tree. Inside the Shop, we’ll be decorated to the max and full of new, unique items to get your holiday shopping started. The terrarium bar will be transformed and we’ll have mini Norfolk Pine Trees and small décor to create a mini holiday tree for those small spaces and office desks.
