Native Plug Sale: Helpful Tips to Plan Your Visit

Greetings, plant lovers -

The entire Botany team is excited to welcome many of you on Saturday, May 11 for our next Native Plug Sale, from 10a-2p. We’re also excited to share this month’s plant list, which you can find at the very bottom of this post.

If you’ve attended one of our plug sales in the past, this one is going to feel a bit different. We’re thrilled that more and more people have begun attending these events, and as our audience of native plant lovers has grown, it’s time to make some upgrades. These changes are meant to ensure a pleasant, easy, and rewarding experience for everyone when shopping, and to ensure you’re able to ask and get answers to your questions.

Here’s a few important changes and tips to help you plan your visit.

  1. Please note, the Botany parking lot will be closed for this special event. Please plan to park across the street or behind the Shop, or in the parking lot across from the Near Northwest Neighborhood Center. Street parking is free.

  2. Upon arrival, all shoppers will be assigned a number, as we’ll be limiting how many people can shop the sale area at one time. We’re doing this to help ensure that our experts on hand are able to answer your questions, and to avoid feeling crunched or too crowded. The number we’ll assign you holds your place in line. Up to two people may share the same number, so you’re welcome to attend with your spouse, partner, roommate, neighbor, etc. Children under 18 may accompany an adult reservation and do not need to be assigned a number.

    1. We’ll begin assigning reservation numbers no later than 9:45a. If you arrive before this time, we’ll kindly ask you to wait along the sidewalk until we’re ready to welcome you.

  3. Once you receive a number, you’ll be welcome to enjoy our outdoor waiting room. We’ll have a few games and chairs, sidewalk chalk, and herb and veggie seedlings will be available to browse and buy right away - and you can visit the indoor Shop, too! A Roaster called Revenant will be joining us with their mobile coffee cart, so you’ll be able to caffeinate as you wait.

  4. Once you hear your number called, please make your way to the “rope line” as you prepare to enter the plant sale area. If you do not arrive and check in with our rope line host within five minutes of your number being called, we’ll move on to the next number in line. Please stay nearby once you receive your number.

  5. If you’re stopping by to pick up a tree or shrub preorder ONLY, please check-in with the Welcome Tent facing Portage Ave. There, you’ll be given a receipt and further instructions.

    1. If you’re picking up a preorder AND want to shop the plug sale, please check in with the Welcome Tent for a reservation number.

  6. The back of the Botany parking lot will be available for curbside loading, should you need it.

Below is a mini map to help you know what to expect. Everyone will receive a copy of this upon arrival, so there’s no need to print this out.
